Brand name

In 1949 Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka founded the ONITSUKA Shokai shoe brand. In the same way, the company carries out a reorganization, which led to a change in the company name: ONITSUKA CO., LTD. A few years later, the company will operate under the name we know today “ASICS”. This name is derived from the Latin expression “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” (“You should pray for a healthy mind in a healthy body”).
